Johto's baby steps ahead of Kanto. We traded dirt roads on grassy planes and generic square houses with no sense of placeness for "place, Japan" where nothing interesting ever happens or matters. How can you write a story in Shinto Shrine Geisha Samurai Yokai Land where nothing ever happens? An "Old VS New" story practically writes itself here. Movepools are SHIT. Pokemon barely learn any moves and most are shit. My Mismagius's strongest move is Confusion. I turned on the Fairy Type so why is the only Pokemon in my party with a Fairy-type move the Arcanine who learned Play Rough and Outrage from the Heart Scale Fag? My Feraligatr got to level 30-40ish before finally replacing Tackle with something! With what? Slash! Fucking Slash!
