NTA but I like the protags having an attractive base design since that's what most of the art will be of them. SFW or NSFW. Any custom character arts comes off as OCs more than Serena/Selene/Gloria/Juliana/Harmony and I couldn't care less about other peoples OCs. That said, I do like WiWa girl

Gen 7 is when they got so lazy the MCs were just genderbent versions of each other.
At least Calem and Serena looked different, every design afterwards was bad, it just wasn't noticeable until Gen 9.

If they haven't changed her design from a couple of years ago, it's very similar to Chicken. Since Sun and moon, the trainers have been too generic and simple; they look like NPCs. But I suppose that's because they're customizable. Serena was the last protagonist with soul.

I don't think I've used any that weren't in the games in any capacity yet, but I'm not intrinsically opposed to it. My Brock's gonna be closer to the anime's than the game version because I like that guy, fuck strict adherence to a single canon.
