>>57729961>this retardedThe system not being a joke is why 10m people bought both new Gens on Switch equally dude. The dexcut is an entirely separate argument, disparate as to the reasons why the audience grew, but ultimately a non-factor in the growth. Those who weren't ever gonna buy it as a result suddenly found themselves shit out of luck, as they ignored the world wasn't going to slavishly, mindlessly follow the dregs of humanity, who cried over a kid's game and demanded it treat them like they were 7 year olds again. Despite being replaced several times over by other, actual 7 years olds.
>>57729958The only ones I'm bothered about are Zelda and Splatoon and given Splatoon was a new IP that was gaining traction on WiiU and Zelda was historically ignored by the world, until they went back to the 80's and re-thought "Open World" AND made it the lead-off game for Switch (I bought a Wii when Skyward Sword was released was waiting for Zelda WiiU/BotW to buy a WiiU, but had a DS and 3DS over the same time frame), setting the table for its eventual redemption, they're kinda irrelevant. Meanwhile, in pokémonland, the average sales of every new Gen pair from Gens 3-7 is 16.5m, the 1m extra sales in Gen 4 covering for the 1m fewer sales in Gen 5 with the rest being in and around 16.5m in actuality. And given they didn't change how they marketed their games, still heavily displayed how child-focused they were, we can extrapolate they hit their targets, then because they were on a console that wasn't a joke to gamers, they picked up 10m extra sales because they suddenly appeared on a console gamers had bought for OTHER Nintendo games and the odd third party that popped up, unlike in the past where they had to hope the gamer would buy a memey handheld and possibly pick up pokémon for it, assuming they played games and the handheld they'd bought wasn't a DS for Nintendogs.
