There has always been a debate over whether Gamefreak would, or should, do a third world nation, and how exactly would it work, and would they have the balls to basically get rid of pale skinned people entirely. But it seems like they've been able to make it work with this option by just having it be largely uninhabited wilderness, not unlike Paldea.
Indonesian/Malaysian Pokemon was a concept for years, but only ever really in that Plus/Minus fake leak which somehow became real after all these years, but it was always seen as copium to imagine any region that wasn't in Europe, North America, Northeast Asia, or in territories held by countries in one of those regions.
