Judges are really picky about non players and players who completed their matches staying in the play area to watch other matches. As far as the merch goes, it really depends. I went to states in OK and the only vendor was selling card singles, but one of the vendors in TX sold some merch such as plushies, mini-figs, stickers, etc.

You could use it in a Blastoise deck that focuses on hitting the bench along with Kyurem instead of OHKOing shit with Keldeo. It's not the best EX but it's definitely a better pull than pulling your 10th Leafeon or something.

All sets have ultra rares of some sort. Look at the setlists at bulbapedia or pokebeach, see which set has the cards you like a buy packs from that set. If you're looking for a specific card, it's be cheaper buying it as a single though.

You don't have to do it in-store if you're worried about what others will think. Just make sure you keep your receipts

Let's face it, without money to buy the newest cards and the best ones (really expensive in some cases) you won't win against the top tier decks.
But if you play nicely with your friends without caring too much about rotation and having the best cards around you can build some cool decks with 30 or less bucks

It really wasn't. From a player's point of view, it added like 5 cards to the metagame, most of which were super rares. From a collector's point of view, it's a fucking 150-card set, that's a bitch to collect without destroying your budget.

Keldeo EX, Landorus EX, Computer Search, Gold Potion, Blastoise and Skyla. Maybe Dusknoir and Aspertia City Gym if you are a bit lenient. Those are the only cards out of a huge set that a player may care about. The rest of the EX's are almost unplayable. The rest of the trainers are either reprints or useless (or both). 8 cards (11 if you count alternate versions) out of 153 don't make for a good set in my opinion, at least not compared to god-tier sets like Stormfront and Dark Explorers.

Also, if value is your criterion for whether a set is good or not, I don't see why you wouldn't like Plasma Storm. It has a fucking shiny Charizard in it, instant $60+ card right there.

It's the amount of valuable stuff, not if it simply has something of value in it. You can make your money back by buying BCR, but you can't by buying Plasma Storm 90% of the time.

Blastoise was reprinted in Plasma Storm. Keldeo EX was reprinted as a promo a month after Plasma Storm's release. The deck would stay there.

Considering that we've heard nothing about a different format in Japan so far and that, if they rotate BLW, EPO, NVI and NXD, only a couple relevant cards will get removed, I'm starting to believe that we will see no rotation this year and then move to something like XY-on for 2014-15.

Buy the Elite Trainer box, it comes with 5 energy of every type, 7 Plasma Storm packs and some other useful stuff to get you started like dice and poison/burn markers. If you're buying Plasma Storm packs anyway, might as well get 3 of that box, you'll get enough energy for any deck.

Sorry for taking so long, had an emergency meeting at school today

Anyways, here's my first box of plasma gale. Didn't get any regular EXs but did manage to get an FA and some shinies. At $20, I can't complain. I also got 2 scramble switches

The raikou is not from plasma gale, but a bonus dark rush pack I received. Got very lucky there!

Not pictured is a regular holo lucario.

Anyways, somethings I noticed are that the raised detailing on FAs and shinies is not as prominent on korean cards as it is on english cards. The cards are actually flat. Also, the blue border on plasma pokemon is shiny

You're assuming everyone can go into stores like Walmart or Target and weigh shit to their heart's content. Where I live, cards are only sold in certain game stores, there's no way I could weigh them there. Even if I tried buying them then return the lighter packs, they'd obviously understand what's going on after a few attempts, I wouldn't want to risk getting kicked out of the only place I can play the TCG.

Rasen Force/Thunder Knuckle have 109 cards between them, excluding shinies, Plasma Freeze has 116. Provided they don't cut any cards, they don't have much room for the extra cards Japan gets on decks. As far as Plasma Freeze goes:

Spiral Force + Thunder Knuckle = 116 cards in total
Plasma Freeze = 122 cards in total

Since Team Plasma Badge is in, I'm guessing the cards from Team Plasma Gift Set except Darkrai will make it in and the FA Darkrai and FA Giratina could be made as a promo

The story
When I was a kid, I loved pokémon cards, I never learnt how to actually battle with them but I collected them like a motherfucker, now unfortunately over the years I have lost them all, and whilst sitting in bed talking to the fianée the other night, we decided to start a tradition - Each of buys 1 pack of pokémon cards a week and eventually when/if we have children we'd pass them down so the next generation would see just how awesome mons are.

Any way, back story aside the question is: Where do I begin? There's so much I don't understand, should I buy booster packs? Starter Packs? Theme Packs?

Nothing stupidly expensive, just something we can gradually build a collection on.

Blastoise + Keldeo is by far the strongest shit out there, you can pump all of your water into one Keldeo with no risksince you can energy retrieval the energies when one dies, or even run 4 super scoop ups, and attach them all again in one turn. How do you plan to remove your enemy's Blastoise without catcher? All you have are Genosect's ability that sucks or Ace Spec attack that doesn't even OHKO it on the bench. Pretty sure "loose pack" is just another term for "booster pack".

Personally, being in the same boat as far as having lost (or in my case, sold) all my old cards, I've been occasionally splurging on classic booster boxes. So far I have Base Set and Jungle, planning to get Fossil sooner or later.

I'm not exactly a nostalgiafag, but when it comes to the TCG, I do believe the original cards were the highest quality (though by now, I have plenty of newer cards as well).

Tins come with 4 booster packs and a promo card. They also have a code that lets you obtain that promo card in TCGO as well.

If you know you will be buying shit weekly, a good idea would be to buy a booster box once a new set is released and just open a couple of packs from it per week. It reduces the cost and you're guaranteed a few super-rares per box instead of gambling every time.

Fat piece of shit Blastoise forces Catcher to stay in or it and Rayeels would simply take over. Rayeels only really loses to Darkrai and Landorus. Both need Catcher to beat it effectively. Not having Catcher would totally unbalance the format.

There's nothing busted about Catcher, all the banfags should stfu and be thankful this isn't like the Nationals (Reversal) format of 2011.

What you should use the tokens for are Boundaries Crossed packs to use to trade for cards.

Do not open packs on TCGO unless they're one of the free ones that you can't trade or you already have your deck done. Use them for bartering.

Input the codes "boundariescrossed" and "plasmastorm" on TCGO to get two copies of a theme deck that will give you 4 Junipers (a staple) to start off with. You can pick up other staples for half a pack on the TCGO public trading system.

For example, put up 1 Boundaries Crossed pack for 2 copies of N, which is commonly run in all decks.

First of all, deck = the 60-card thing you use to play. Pack = the thing with 10 random cards.

The pre-constructed decks aren't worth that much in TCGO, so open them and enjoy the trainers they come with, some of them may be good. Packs, on the other hand, are used as some kind of currency in the game to judge a card's value and make trading easier. Think of it like buying single cards. Instead of gambling by opening packs hoping to pull a certain card, people are willing to trade their pack(s) for that card. You can't attach lightening energy from your hand to zapdos

lol the only way to attach the energy to him is to use his plasma move. The plasma move lets him flip a coin to see if he gets to have lightning energy from the discard pile. First pokemon i've ever seen that relies on coin flip hax to get energy on him

Even then his powered up move is terrible. FOUR ENERGY for a measly 60 damage. And the best part? You get to flip to see if he hurts himself for 2 damage every time he uses it.

Unlike TCGO, nothing is automatic except shuffling and dice rolling. It's really basic. But, you pretty much have to be in a voice chat like you would in real life, otherwise stating what commands you are doing is rather difficult to the other player.

Though, they're not limited to items, Recycle and Excadrill DEX work in that way. Recycle has you flip a coin, if heads, put a card from your discard pile to the top of your deck and Excadrill's 2nd attack has you put a card from your discard pile into your hand.

That magic number for holos/regular EXs is in the 28.9-29.1 range, but they're for 1-pack blisters. Full Arts are harder to pull thanks to the etchings on the cards, they trap air and have a tendency of having a lighter weight.

Just be careful about where you pick up your packs, stores that sell packs from booster boxes tend to ban scaling from their stores and/or make all TCG sales final.

If we have to have a Catcher reprint, then make the other 2 cards Dark Patchor or one of the draw supporters (this could be when TCPi plans to release the other N artwork) and any of the non-tool ACE SPEC cards

we survived with feraligatr legal in 2009-2010. Tropical beach is practically confirmed for rotation now, so you're still going to have trouble setting up that stage 2 vs big basics

Not for that SixPrize competition, mind you, I just want another fun deck to take to League. Stormfront Gyarados with BW-era cards feels busted as shit and my Mew Prime/Rhyperior Lv.X is fun but too big of a gamble most of the time.

Honestly there needs to be a new format stated. Something like magic's modern format. It could be sets EXRS-on with a banned and limited list to keep things in check. Its a format that needs testing but I think it has potential to be diverse with the right bans and limits to keep really OP stuff in check, like Smogon metagames.

Japan already has such a format, they call it Palace format. It's DP-on and some cards have a star rating. Each player is allowed to have up to 4 stars in their deck.

After playing against a friend of mine in T4, it just shows how HTL and Darkrai is oh so dangerous

>Took 2 Prizes from KOing a Landorus EX already

Well, at least the opponent in the finals knows what he is doing as long as he isn't drunk and ends up getting pasted. (He is also a regular in the area where I live)

Round 1: Faced someone I know w/ VictiniRayEels, won due to N'd him down to 2 and didn't kill a single Rayquaza EX (4 Eels and a Victini EX)

The Plasma Coin is in the Plasma Storm theme decks right? The ones with giratina/druddigon? Do you know if it is in metal, hard plastic or shit plastic (like the ones with chansey/aerodactyl/starmie ecc ecc)?

How popular is Pokémon TCG worldwide at the moment? I kind of wanted to start playing again but couldn't find any place to play. I searched some forums and saw everyone's ragequit the game around here because everyone thinks it's become too shitty to play. Most of them complain about cancer basic pokémon that are stronger than evolutions.
