Why is there so much name/trip circklejerking on /vp/ lately?

I don't like going all meta, but in my observations, the numbers are rising at an unusually high rate. Now, I realize that a name/trip can be useful. People who are contributing content to /vp/ or trading with others are good examples of that, and in fact, are part of what drives this board's traffic. But it seems like more and more people are putting on names/trips just to circlejerk with others like them. The worst part is, a lot of these new tripfriends seem to make up a sizable chunk of the shitposting on /vp/ as of right now.

Should we do something about it?
