Level and rarity play into it too.

You're more likely to win with a full health level 18 caterpie than a weakened level 14 pinsir.

It would depend on the person's personal ethics. Some people consider catching for auxiliary purposes such as hold items to be still against the rules.

However since it's HG i'm fairly confident you could win a sun stone from the pokethlon anyway.

Things are going well
I feel kind of overleveled but when every trainer you fight has 3 fully evolved pokes and you get shit tons of exp from them, this happens.
I was a level higher than erika I think, doesnt matter she was using fire types.

It was funny, I've played at least a dozen games and the only time I've ever lost the first battle like that was in my first nuzlocke attempt

Checked its natures and IVs afterwards, its hp and defense couldn't be any lower. Poor guy just wasn't cut out for competitive wrestling

I'm seeing the same mistakes happening again and again.

While it's funny, maybe we should try to put together some general Nuzlocke tips.

-Never use Metronome.
-Running away from Voltorbs/Electrodes/Koffings etc is always advised, unless your Pokemon is immune to Explosion/Selfdestruct.
- Be aware of moves that damage all Pokemon in double battles.

Lost the E4 Challenge to Lucian
Orgasm the Likilicky fell early on to Aaron and his Yanmega's Crit Bug Buzz

Luke the Gyarados would be the next to fall to Flint and his Infernape's Thunderpunch...Fuck why did I overlook that?

Juff the Infernape took quite a beating from Flint's Infernape but still managed to come out on top.

Then came Flint's Flareon...
It used Overheat but of course it didn't really do shit. It would use Overheat a second time for a Critical Hit...Juff, the mon with me since the beginning, was killed.

I would then switch to Sakamoto the Umbreon in the hopes of walling my way to victory. Flareon gets ANOTHER Crit overheat in a row ending the life of longtime companion, Sakamoto.

Quinn the Gabite would wind up atoning for it's sins from Killing Mr. Wayne the Crobat after all by taking out Flint's next three mons on it's own just by dig over and over again. I thought she was too under-leveled...If only I used her earlier.
Her redemption was complete as she finally evolved into Garchomp after the match

I was hoping and praying her Crunch would be enough to deal with Lucian but his team, many levels above my last two pokes, were too much.
Quinn the Garchomp would fall to Lucian's Gallade but not before bringing Gallade down JUST enough so Coop the Mamoswine could finish it with Ice Shard.

Coop, fighting to his last breath, would fall to Lucian's Bronzong.

I'm sorry guys, I'm sorry...
I tried my hardest but it still wasn't enough.

Juff, Sakamoto, Orgasm, Luke, Coop, Quinn...
I've failed you all. We were so close to the finish line and I've failed you...

About to hit Burgh, but I might train in the Battle Company for a bit. Every trainer up to the Crustle has been dealt with, except for Castelia and the gym, so I might as well.
Burgh himself won't be a problem. Lightyear's STAB attacks and Elvis' Strength will help against Vespiquen, Masquerain and Scyther, while Zippy's STAB Wing Attack will crush Leavanny and Parasect, as long as Parasect doesn't go funky with that Focus Sash.

Started a Ruby Nuzlocke last night!

So far I've just arrived in Dewford. Really hoping to get a Makuhita from the cave but with my luck I'll probably get a Zubat.

Besides Seedot, I've been getting the most common doubles possible.

Just started a Sacred Gold run here. I did make a run before, but by the time i reached Bugsy, i was unlucky enough to loose everyone.

Here's my starter, she got a mild nature, which may be her demise later on. I didn't feel like picking up Cyndaquil or Totodile since they're major bros, but I'd like to get something different for their typings.

It's all about what you think it should be.
In my humble opinion, giftmon are a seperate category of pokemon and should be treated as individual things because they're in different areas.
As for that Sacred Gold Eevee, i suppose just choose either your first route catch or that.

I'm doing a randomized White 2 run, which means randomized movesets, randomized typings, randomized abilities, randomized TMs (and randomized compatibilities), randomized trainers. (Oh, and class names too, so my rival is Man Luvdisc [Yes, I nicknamed him Luvdisc]).

My starter is a dragon/steel cute charm blastoise with forcepalm/rest/x-scissor/endeavorprobably, my first encounter was a throh that I killed, my second encounter is a fantastic Bug-type Rough Skin(strangely fitting) Geodude with SACRED FIRE/MUD BOMB/DRAGON DANCE FUCK YEAH, and my ranch encounter is a Psychic-type rattled Kabutops with blizzard/cross poison/extrasensory/endeavor.
I'm currently grinding for Alder's sexual slaves childs and Cheren.

Going through with randomized settings. Everything but moves, abilities and TMs are randomized. Also no legendaries will appear in the wild, but they can appear on trainers.

Nuzlocke rules:
>Must nickname
>Catch the first on a route, if you fail, too bad
>Gift Pokemon are allowed if you haven't caught/seen anything else in the area it's given
>Bug Catching Contest counts as a different area than the National Park due to changed catchmaps

Whelp, I beat Norman, but lost Mindy. I have mixed feelings about this, because Mindy was a real bro (sister?) and died in an unfortunate way. Hector (my Hariyama) was encored into Fake out by Vigoroth.

I switched out to Mindy for one turn, thinking she could take a hit and then switch back. She was at full health. But a critical slash ended her.

On the bright side, I caught a cacnea (crow) earlier that I had been thinking of using. Crow shall take her position.

Hector absolutely wrecked Vigoroth and Slaking #2. Surprisingly, Felix (Dustox) took down the first Slaking on his own. I used Protect and double team until +6 evasion, then was able to psybeam it little by little until it went down. I was very impressed.

Now in New Mauville. Put Felix in the box for now. Team is

Was just curious about what emulator happened to work the best nowadays. I do know DeSmuME has a jit version which people have reported to work the best, but that might not be the case anymore.
