I've never played competitively, but I have tried IV/EV training. EV training is actually really easy and quick. It's IV breeding that's a warning sign for some sort of disorder. I tried it a couple of times... never again. Anybody who has that much time to waste needs to get some new hobbies, and anybody who actually enjoys it... well, you're the expert, OP.
