I just thought about how Poison is a horrible offensive type and how Game Freak could boost it in the future.

In most fairy tales people die or get hurt from poison (pic very related) and IIRC someone pointed out how Xerneas, Yveltal and maybe even Sylveon could represent a new type; Märchen/Meruhen (translates to fairy tale). So by introducing this new type, poison would actually be useful in gen 6.
