Today, would've been my Mom's 52nd. Unfortunately, she passed away 9 years ago when I only 12.

For her 40th birthday, I gave her a Pikachu card, and she mistakenly thought his name was "Gnaw" because the move on the card.

To this day, I always keep a Pikachu named Gnaw in my team in memory of her.

In honor of my Mom and whatever else you want it to be in honor of, how about a PokeNostalgia/Feels thread.

i get nostalgia about some of brother's favorite pokes since we used to spend all day on the game. i got him white 2 and he plays it now then, is good. obv we're both growing up so we dont spend nearly as much time on the game but its fun, he still plays the same way he did as a kid

That really touches me OP.

I rarely come to this board actually but I'm glad I did in time to see this.

True story, I'm actually in the ER with my mom right now for the 11th time this year so far and its been like this for several years. I know I've been really lucky to have had her as long as I have.

My I gave her a Munna plush last year and she brings her whenever she goes to the hospital. She even calls her "she" rather than it and calls me telling me about all the stuff she's doing like shes an actual munna.

She also talks about Munna missing all the Pokédolls I have in my room. its really cute.

Sorry to showsteal in any way, but as someone who has Pokémon feels related to my mom I thouhgt i'd chime in.

i have to tuck her back into the er bed right now in fact

My parents were divorced and Pokemon Yellow and my whore mother got custody. The few times I got to see my dad he tried to buy something because of how guilty he felt for never seeing me.

One day his friend and his kids came over and they let me play their Pokemon Yellow. The next time I was up my father had bought me a brand new gameboy with Pokemon Yellow.

I played it everyday, and never let anybody else touch it out of fear they would break it lot steal it. I still have the Gameboy and Yellow to this day.

Flash forward to a few months ago and my dad had a heart attack scare, where he was hospitalized, after he was released he told me if he ever dies he wants me to put the first Pokemon game he bought me into the coffin with him.

When I first played yellow I caught a pidgeotto in viridian forest. I thought it was so cool cause I was just like ash. I pretty much only used him and he carried me through the game. My yellow cartridge was bugged, when you start a new game it erases your save even if you didn't overwrite it. My cousin was playing with it and he accidently destroyed the save file and pidgeot was gone forever. Now I always try to have a pidgeot in my party and I'll hack him in if I have to. No matter how much crappier he gets with every new generation, he'll always be my favorite pokemon.

Growing up I had a friend named John who would always be better than me at Pokemon. We grew up and went separate ways, he became a drug addict in high school. I haven't spoken a word to him in probably over a decade, but I still name the lead of any team I have John.

When G/S came out, I was best friends with a guy whose surname was Jameson. We actually got to the E4 at the same time and were going to beat it at the same time. I always got picked on in school, and bent easily to peer pressure. My mom was also an angry drunk and I kept going from homeless shelter to foster home when I was a child. Since nobody ever stood up for me until around 8th grade, I made up a character called Mina who was always kind, understanding, unconditionally loving, and ready to stand up for someone who needs it.

She never had a look until I played Pokemon crystal and based her off of Kris. Because of this, I played crystal more as an escape from reality than a game. I imagined how she'd always have a casual life of raising Pokemon and caring for her friends. It carried on until 3rd gen came out and I did the same. However, that's when I ran away from my friend's abusive home and I needed a world the most.

Even though the game is long gone, as with my RBY Pokemon, my new trainers are always Mina and I still imagine that blue haired girl aging as I do, continuing the journey, and gathering more friends that she can hold and love with all of her heart.

I try not to ship her with anyone since it might change but I do anyway. It simply gets retconned

I used to play in Toys R' Us tournaments for the card game way back when it first started. A good friend of mine was in a family that helped organize the event, so she got free event shit early. She gave me a holographic Eevee card. This was when we were still in elementary school too, so maybe when I was like 9 or so? I'm bad with years. Anyway, I've got that card in a red binder that I've kept since then. That card has been with me ever since I got it from my friend.

A few years later, she moved away suddenly; no prior notice or anything. My grandmother knew her mother pretty well, but she also lost contact. So, since email wasn't even a common thing except for rich folk back then, I didn't have any way to contact her again.

Fast Forward to my late high school years, maybe Sophomore year. A good friend of mine who used to be a bully to me comes and tells me he found her on facebook. I was overjoyed suddenly, but then I heard bad news; she was doing drugs. My friend (ex-bully) said he barely recognized her at all. I didn't want to look, because I didn't want the memories I had to be changed. My friend is long gone, but the memories are still there.

I know it all too well. I had a friend I could tell my secrets to, play Pokemon with, do little childish RPs with, she taught me how to ride a bike, and she was basically the biggest real life part of my Pokemon world.

Few years later I find out she's pregnant with some crack head's kid and doesn't play games anymore. The person I knew nolonger exists but I will always remember her.

When I was younger, I bought my little brother a Torchic plushie. We had tons of plushies, but that was the only one that was "his" exclusively. We kind of fell out of contact when our parents died. When I went back to the house to grab all my old stuff, I made it a special point to grab that plushie, knowing that it would probably get sold otherwise. To this day I've hung onto that Torchic so that if I ever see him again I can give it back to him.

I'm sure you're wondering why I don't just go visit him. There are some rather complicated family reasons behind it that would take far too long to explain.
