A. smogon only relates to competitive battling and says nothing about what pokemon should be used when you play the game. using smogon sets in the games is usually a bad idea. you should use whatever makes sense.
B. people get angry because smogon "doesn't let them use the pokemon they love" when in fact that's the opposite of the truth.
if you favorite pokemon is zangoose, congratulations, you can use him in your NU team and have fun battling competitively with zangoose. the only other option is to compete competitively with gamefreaks rules in which using zangoose means you will be instantly destroyed by thundurus. there are no tiers and if you want to use zangoose you are going to get eaten alive before you get to do anything.
it's like karenfags pretend the only smogon tier which exists is OU. you can use zangoose in OU if you want. or you can use him in NU and have a lot of fun.
