As much as I hate Cameron for his Isshu League nonsense, I would greatly enjoy if he became the new protagonist.

The joke was they're practically the same person. Even the show's mascot wouldn't change. Sparky would just naturally absorb Pikachu's role of being a Pikachu. It would be the most cop out, safe way for them to try out getting rid of Ash for a new protagonist.

Agreed. I don't hate Ash, but the reason I hate the new anime is because hardly anything exiting happens. I prefer if we leave Ash's future open to our imaginations.
