You really can't. While it sounds like you will be 2HKOing anything, it really doesn't work like that. The Shock-wave marker can be removed by (d)evolving the Pokémon and, also, most decks in unlimited play a shitton of Scoop Ups or cards with a similar effect. Unfortunately, Tyranitar ex δ wasn't good even back when it was released, let alone now.

Japanese Box:

+ Smaller sets
+ Gurantee 1 holo per pack
+ Cheaper since it is only 5 cards per pack
- SR and UR are not guranteed in each box (that probably also explains why they are treated as Secret Rares in the Japanese sets)
- Uncommons are harder to acquire since it is only 1 per pack

English Box:

+ TCGO Codes
+ Usually gurantees you at least 2 EX and 1 FA EX, more if you are lucky
+/- Buying 2 boxes usually gurantees you a playset of all the commons and uncommons, but that also leaves you with more junk
+/- Reverse Holo cards (I'm personally not a fan of them, but that's just me)
- More expensive due to having more cards per pack
- Holo rares and above are average 1 in every 3 packs due to non-holo rares
- Sets can be too big at times since the English sets do combine two smaller Japanese sets into one
- Full Art Supporters and Shinys are still hard to pull

Anyway, the main reason why japanese sets are far better is because the english ones are filled with junk that comes from the japanese starter decks, gift sets, etc. Those cards are almost always unplayable since they are marketed towards kids who want to start playing the game but they are lumped with everything else in our sets.

I traded my old TerrakionGarchomp deck I put together in Dragons Exalted for a Plasmaklang base and it seems like while it rocks EX-based decks something fierce, it loses miserably to anything with a non-EX heavy hitter (re:ReshiBoar).

I'm running Iron Breaker Cobalions in lieu of more Cobalion and Registeel EXs since I don't have that much money, but what else should I run, Pokémon-wise? I already have my supporter line (standard 4 Skyla/4 Candy/4 Colress blah blah blah and something to look specifically for the Cobalions since Heavy Ball cannot look for them).

Also most Klang decks run only 3 of the Plasma Klang. Would it be worthwhile to put a Shift Gear Klinklang to round it out?

It's all random. No ranking. Though there is a Novice Lobby and Expert Lobby, there's virtually no difference.

Any codes before Plasma Storm can be redeemed for any other kind of pack. Though starting with Plasma Storm, codes can only unlock packs that the code came from. Meaning PS-on packs cannot be redeemed with anything else. Hope that makes sense.

imo dont use packs for opening unless you wanna just blast through them.
just use them as trade bait, boundries crossed and dark exploreres are quite hot,

there has been to many a time i have opened 30 packs of junk when i could have traded 4 packs for the cards i needed.

opening packs is fun yeah but if your building, its better to use as trade fodder imo

just lurk the forum or chat box with offers of 'xxx for pack you choose' kind of thing then redeem codes as needed,
public trade function is ok, but shit has so many flaws, not to mention listings are for 8 fucking hours

I'm not sure if we're still recommending just betting it all on Dark Explorers or not. That set has some really good staple Trainers like Juniper, N, Ultra Ball, and Random Receiver. Also has Sableye, Dark Patch, and Darkrai EX. Those three right there pretty much make up a really good metagame deck. There's also Tornadus EX who is a really strong attacker and to a lesser extent Raikou EX and Empoleon.

Next on my list would probably be Boundaries Crossed since you get a lot of other useful Trainers (albeit they're reprints from BW Base Set) as well as the new ACE SPEC cards and strong EX like Keldeo EX (who goes good with the Blastoise from that set) and Landorus EX. The downside is that the set is stupidly big so getting everything you need is pretty tough.

Also this >>11801824 Though most people will likely only trade for the newer packs. If you can get Plasma Storm codes for cheap, just do that.

T1
Active Sableye. Juniper/Ultra Ball at least one Darkness Energy and bench a Darkrai EX. Try to Dark Patch as much energy as you can. Attach to Sableye. Junk Hunt for Dark Patch and whatever else you need.
T2
Sableye is hopefully still alive. Attach one to Darkrai. Dark Patch or Energy Switch for the third Darkness Energy. Night Spear.

Use Dark Claw, Hypnotoxic Laser, and Virbank City Gym to rack up even more damage.

Don't reinstall using your old install file, every time they update they put out a new installer.

No, they are considered different. Muk shuts down Poké-Powers and Poké-Bodies but not Abilities. Same for Garbodor. I remember people asking whether Entei-Raikou Legend would hit Pokémon with Abilities too back when they were introduced and the answer was no.

Went 4-4 with Klinklang at States. Losses were to a t2 Night Spear vs Klink, 3 Bouffalant Big Basics (My list played 3 Catcher and I burned one early to stall a Landy so i didn't have the fourth to answer his 3rd Bouff when he dropped it), and 2 consecutive Rayeels.

Losses 1 and a Rayeels were supporter drought. The friend that told me I could borrow his beach decided to play Stoise, and I took out a supporter for a Max Potion, but the difference was quite large from when I tested.

Loss 2 was just my misplay with the catcher. Had I known he played 3 Bouffalant, I wouldn't have burned that catcher on the Landorus.

The other Rayeels loss was just whiffing Catcher + Mewtwo + DCE + Switch when he brought out Benchtini. I had the Switch + Ultra Ball + DCE so I got M2 active and Junipered for one of the 3 Catcher and whiff. I retreated and passed, brought it back up next turn and Junipered again, and whiff again. At this point he brought RayEX up and killed my M2, so it was GG.

Not bitter though, my teammate got 3rd here in Florida, which is THE most competitive state

Also, round 4 I played a match that lasted 50 minutes against a 90-10 autowin. I catcher-ko'd his only non-EX (bouffalant) T3 and he claimed I didn't attach T2 and wouldn't relent. I know 100% I did and the math added up to me being right, but since he seemed cool and it WAS a near autowin we had the judges let us re-play the prior turn. The whole process took like 30 minutes to resolve so we got a MASSIVE time extension. Everyone was watching our game, including the TO's and all the judges.

Yes, but any older cards that have a newer version printed will automatically be errata'd into the newest version. So any of your Base Set (2) Bill will be treated as the Supporter version from HeartGold SoulSilver and older Potion will now heal 30 damage instead of 20 a la the Black and White ones

I don't know what your budget is, but the scale I posted is $20.

If you're going to be weighing loose packs, pretty much any $5-$10, 0.01g scale off ebay will work. I used a $5 made-in-china scale for loose packs and it worked fine.

The reason I bought the $20 scale is because it's bigger and can fit blisters easier

Quad-Sigilyph, and thats about it. and even then it only works because Sigilyph walls EXs. You could also try garbador, but you'd need an attacker and most people will use Mewtwo EX for that

I'd recommend Ninetales/Amoongus.

It revolves around using Amoongus's abilty to put 2 status conditions on a pokemon, then having Ninetales attack it for 120 damage, more if you have Virbank gym in play. You could also use HTLaser over Amoongus, but you aren't guaranteed the 2nd condition

the only problem is having a 90HP stage 1 as your main attacker isn't the strongest set up, and you'll have a few situations where they can OHKO you and you can't OHKO them. But it's a lot of fun if you struggle through and can get some very satisfying kills

Like using those is any better. Using non-EX basics isn't any different than using EX, they are pretty much the same thing compared to evolutions. You would still be playing the most watered down form of the game.

Back in the day, evolutions other than Blastoise and Garbodor existed. I guess I'm just old-fashioned but I can't bring myself to enjoy this game anymore

Is weighing packs a good idea? I usually manage to crack the best FA cards in the set in my first five packs; Darkrai EX was in my third Dark Explorers pack and Keldeo EX was in my first Boundaries Crossed.

Just won 2 out of 3 against landorus ex/garbodor deck, I think the deck could need a tool scrapper but I can barely find space for them [NO THE ENERGY SEARCH HAVE TO STAY THERE, they thin out the deck and let you check for which cards are prized, which is key in this deck]

The gist of it is pretty simple, if the opponent is playing ex's you try to out kk as soon as possible, if the opp isn't playing exes, put ants to your hearts content and revive them when they get destroyed, worse case scenario, you'll have to donk out some pokes with kk, Hugh and N are there to make the opponent draw cards [each 4 cards drawn means 1 less turn towards winning for you] and Colress is your only real support here, Skyarrow bridge gets rid of Virbank and makes Durant get a free retreat, and don't worry about decking yourself out, N, Durant and Super Rod can avoid that pretty easily.

I'm pretty open to suggestions and else, if you take this deck to nationals or something of the like, credit is appreciated.

It is great against decks with big bench though

Full Bench + Dark Claw / = 140 damage, which means a OHKO against Klinklangs and Blastoise

Full Bench + HTL + Virbank = 150 damage, OHKO against Hydreigon

Full Bench + Dark Claw + HTL + Virbank = 170 damage, OHKO against Keldeo EX, Mewtwo EX, etc.

What's the cheapest meta deck I can make
Friends have all gotten into the game but no serious tournament decks yet

They are all running decks with dark rai and mewtwo ex's in plentiful supply with other basic ex's and there is a garbodor lock down deck being used

Also a shaymin EX/Psychic deck with mewtwo ex's

That's probably the best way if you're trying to stick to your $100 budget. TrollandToad seems to have bumped up the prices on those Darkrai tin promos considerably since I last checked so see if you can get some good deals on eBay for the rarer cards like Darkrai, Keldeo, Computer Search, Pokemon Catcher, and Hypnotoxic Laser.

Thanks, ebay looks like it was the answer.
There were some great deals on some certain less valuable prints of the dark rai and keldeo cards. The ultra balls and HTL and Ns and all that have some great auctions where they're buy it now for 4 for a very low price. It'll still push me up near my budget but thats much lower than i'd be paying otherwise

Anyone on here have any Darkrai EXs on PTCGO they'd be willing to trade? I don't have all that much and I'm trying to make a HTL/Sableye/Darkrai deck that's a slightly-modified version of the one in the FAQ so I can stop playing against computer opponents. I opened a bunch of packs when I first started so I could get most of the staple commons and uncommons, and I don't have much trade bait. A Blastoise, Zekrom, Hydreigon, FA Reshiram, FA Terrakion and a smattering of EXs (Ho-Oh, Groudon, Celebi), Gold Potion, a few other things.

There's a public trade listed that's offering a Dowsing Machine for my FA Reshiram. I'm considering going for it, but it seems like Sableye would do almost the same thing more consistently, and cheaper.

I realized all of my "oh I'm just a collector" pack pulls were bomb cards (FA Darkrai EX, FA Keldeo EX, Computer Search, etc. out of less than 10 packs) and started to get interested in the metagame for the first time since Neo.

I went there and was pleased to find some particular keldeos for just around 8 dollars. Not the full art or ultra rare keldeo, but it is the exact same card stat wise so it works. The darkrais are also similar in that you can snag certain less valuable prints of those with the stats

Trainers also seem pretty easy to get this way. If you really want to get serious, I would read up further on the metagame before deciding where you want to spend your money further

flipping cards isn't always the best way to go about it when you could just get rid of the status instead of taking a 50/50 for a little extra

Man, reading this thread is making me want to play again. Last time I was in one of these threads, I decided I'd get back into the game - bought up resources for a Darkrai/Hydreigon deck, most of the cards being full art, only to find out that the atmosphere at the only league near me was horrific.

There were a few nice guys there... but then you've got all the loud kids screaming about how "he nicked my card" and other such incidents, and the neckbeards who probably would have been alright if they had talked to you, made eye contact or anything at all really. As it was, they just announced their attack, thoroughly trounced me and moved on. No "gg" or handshake, they just got up and walked off.

Then there were the guys who obviously took it seriously, with binders filled with rare cards and very try-hard attitudes. There wasn't anything wrong with them as such, but they were difficult to talk to about anything, even during matches.

Is this a normal league for everyone? I just want to chill and play Pokemon, but the few times I've been there have put me right off. I don't even care that I'm absolutely shite at the game, it's just not fun when there's seemingly nobody there who shares your attitude towards it. I would try TCGO but that means buying loads of code cards and relying on the rng, I'm not up for doing all that again.

You use the code cards to get packs and then trade the packs for cards instead of opening them.

Also, TCGO isn't really casual. one mode is just a bunch of people with bad decks that get angry when they start to lose and the other mode is people with tournament ready decks that are silent the whole time. Judging by your post, this would probably bother you.
