Alright, I'll throw in my two cents.
Prepare for a wall of text.
>Is it morally wrong to marry your pokemon? No.
Not really.
As a strictly cultural ritual, it would probably be rather weird. "Awkward" is the word, I think.
But as an affectionate thing (gesture?) and a seal of devotion, I wouldn't care.
I'll throw in a little speculation and bits of SCIENCE!:
Humans are drawn to unusual partners. "Unusual" as in "potentially superior" and not "fucked up", of course. It's a genetic thing for the sake of producing better kids and yadda yadda.
Besides, bland partners are, well, kind of boring.
And personally, I think nigger-ladies are hot as hell. And I'm white, obviously. Now, I suspect this is where xenophilia and similar fetishes(?) come from. Basically an interest in exotic partners that has been taken to the next level.
Adding to this, I find a pretty awful amount the games' characters ranting about how a close relationship between a trainer and their pokemon is the most important thing ever since digestible food.
SOME level of intimacy is inevitable.
Humanity is a sexual species, especially when compared to anything else on this planet.
And so is pokemon, considering how they reproduce. And their intelligence certainly WOULDN'T detract from that, it would just make them creative.
Like us.
So I won't blame anybody for developing intimate feelings for any particular member of their pokemon team.
If pokemon were real, I'd be surprised as shit if NO-ONE EVER had a romantic (or just sexual) relationship with any of their pokemon, regardless of the land's laws.
While I expect children to be out of the question, that particular fact doesn't usually stop people from taking an interest in someone else.
