Monotype means your pokemon only has one type. a monotype team can have pokemon of many different types, as long as the individual pokemon only have one type each.

A homotype team is a team in which all pokemon are of the same type.

But seriously OP, first post nailed it on the head. If you're playing a ROM/ flash cart, just pokegen the pokemon your heart desires at level 5. If you're doing mono-ice, pick sneasel! What game are you playing anyway?
