Psychic is weak to bugs because bugs, the dark, and ghosts are the 3 most well-known irrational fears. The only reason I'd ever doubt this theory is because dark type =/= darkness

Dark and bugs relies more on conjecture, but it's probably because bugs are "alien" or have hivemind and thus are not susceptible to underhanded tactics

Flying and fighting isn't an obvious choice, but since they're both stylistic, no explanation is really needed. There's a made up type that fights with style y, and a made up type that fights with style x, and one of them is advantageous over the other because they say so.

The only type matchups that should be questioned are elemental ones.

You've got me there, I think it was just because Ice needed something to be supereffective against to balance it out and make it viable. If anything, they should have made Steel supereffective against Dragons given the knight motif.

I was going to expand on the comic idea and find easy ways to remember which types beat others.

For example in first gen the Dragon type was basically meant to be an almightly game breaker type. Made to take nothing from the first starter types plus Pikachu if Yellow. While ice being the only counter beside another dragon. Of course do half damage to steel because knights vs dragons.

I gave up on the idea because last time I post it on /vp/ no one seem to care and just wanted to post furry art. I not planning to revive it simply because /vr/ exist now and DWM is a better game anyhow. Only here because it is a slow board (as if that is a bad thing) but feel free to take the idea and work with it.

Hydrophobia is an actual disorder. Of course, the others can be too, but people can also just get anxious around it. And Hydrophobia is not as common in pop culture.
