So, there will be aproximately 790 mons by the VI gen. How many do you think there will be untill the end of the series?

Considering hardware limitations, I'd say 3000 mons. And I'd catch all of them, except for that freakish thing called Rhyperior.

Realisticly speaking this is what they will do: after they reach a certain amount they will just stop putting certain mons in the games, like maybe they will start by not putting gen 1 mons, then gen 2, then gen 3 and so on. That is the only way they can go on for however long they want and still put new mons.

It's difficult already to catch almost 700, imagine more than 4 times that number.

People would start to ignore the main objective of the game, which is the Dex completion.

Just because you don't want to doesn't mean that others don't.

You may not like a Pokemon from say gen 2 while someone else might want to use that Pokemon, why should they take out the option for that person to use that particular Pokemon just because you don't want to catch them all?

I hope there's less this time around, too many designs and you just start getting repeated variants from past generations (Alomomomomomomola), thrown out mons put back in just to meet the high quota (munna), or simply bad designs that shouldn't have even made the cut in the first place (icecream faggots).

Not unless they do a major overhaul to the play style.
Imagine the pokemon games of the future having 3D open world exploration akin to Monster Hunter or 3DRPGs. Pokemon each have interesting things that you need to catch them, like tracking them down and such. Could be cool.

You're forgetting that if the game gets that saturated with creatures, other things have to increase to compensate. More trainers, longer story, more pokemon in your party, more moveslots, etc.
