Charizard's new form would be called Rockboost Charizard

Charizard gains this form when it is hit by Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock heals its HP and then Charizard goes into Rockboost form. Charizard becomes Fire/Rock, and all its stats go up by 30. Charizard can automatically attack whenever a new Pokemon switches in.

You are now aware that because the 3DS hasn't been hacked and the game is getting a global release, for the first half-year or so the game will be a mystery.

Nobody will be able to peek under the hood, nothing comprehensive will have been compiled.

Rumors will abound

That is what we call "wishful thinking." They have already given up the series, in effect, by hating on anything that isn't Gen 1. But now, they would be hating on things that /are/ Gen 1, so it could be interesting.

You mean the first 72 hours. After that anything worth finding will have been found. Also, just because nobody has figured out how to emulate the games yet doesn't mean people can't rip and decompile the data on the cartridge. They'll find out any later release legendarys and shit like that fairly easily.

Right, because it only took 72 hours to figure out all of the game mechanics and secrets in the original pokemon.

I'm going off roughly the time it took for the Japanese to find everything in BW2 out. There's no point comparing it to the old days before internet was prevalent and such.

The people with the equipment already do it out of curiosity. Just depends how long before one of them gets to it, but considering it is Pokemon that won't be long.

Right, but my point is the tools are already there to peek under the hood of DS games. The DS is more or less figured out.

I remember how long it was, even WITH the internet, before anyone knew that Goldeneye for N64 had push-button cheat codes.

Shit, with Fez they had to bruteforce that one code, and that game was played by the entire internet from the get-go.

When you can't get under the hood, you're left with "someone who wrote the game said this was true" and trial-and-error, and with a game with as much randomization, odd event specificity, tie-in content, and hidden math as pokemon, figuring everything out without being able to more or less look at the guts of the game itself is gonna be a mess.

The ROM can get dumped, sure, but it's encoded and little to no progress has been made on unencrypting it. They're useless as it stands.
It'll happen, but not quickly, and claiming it'll happen as quickly as the BW2 dump is pure ignorance.
