I dislike Pokegen simply because it's basically cheating; I used to get all of my pokemon legitimally back in the day and I still like doing that, thanks, even if it feels like shit now that I know people are just hacking the game and generating everything, and the Pokemon I'm training won't be as powerful as the ones I'll find in battle because they're generated.

And it contributes to having the same pokemon all over WiFi. People just pokegen the same fucking team.

You never earned it as a reward if you just pokegen it. I have 8 shinies. 8. I have earned every single one of them. The purpose of collecting is to earn your collections, receive them as rewards. Collecting wouldn't be fun at all if you just forge everything in your "collection". RNG abuse is almost as bad as pokegon (although when I say RNG abuse, I'm only really thinking of soft resetting on legendaries and shit.

Can't wait until X and Y arrive, the 3DS is unhackeable, Action replays and the likes can be simply blocked with system updates. That save backup dongle thing is known to corrupt save datas as well.

Nuzlocke is the only way to bond with your Pokes now (unless you don't care about EV/IVs, natures, etc)

I honestly hope they completely remove IV's in gen VI. I don't mind EV training at all, but I hate breeding Pokemon for good IV's. Once they remove IV's, I'll stop generating my Pokemon.

Sheesh... actually that'd be great, considering it'd be a fuckload easier and would make it a lot more accessible to people new to competitive battling. Although I do worry about how it could affect backward compatibility.

All IVs remain the same but all pokemon are treated like they have 31. Similar tp when they buff the base power of moves. IVs now determine things like your pokemon's favourite berries and out of battle stuff

System updates. Whenever a new game comes out and you want to play it, you'll need to update. And each new update will block the current exploit the other system update had. The 3DS has a robust security system, it's so robust that even now, two years laters, hackers weren't even 20% deep in hacking it, before Nintendo patched the only lead they had been keeping in secrecy.

That's GameFreak's fault, not the players'. Competitive battles are about using the best. Only a select few fit into that category without driving into OP (Uber) territory.

If anything, older/weaker Pokemon/moves/abilities need tweaks to be more viable to allow more diversity.

How does he not understand? If a Pokemon receives a few moves and an ability that when utilised in a certain way makes them OP, everyone does it and thus it becomes OU. Look at Cloyster, getting Skill Link with Shell Smash and Icicle Spear catapulted it into OU because it was a strategy that was so easily exploitable and taken up by everyone.

Also, fuck Shell Smash. That move makes no fucking sense.

I like this. My OU team is a Sandstorm team with Tyranitar (OU), Escavalier (RU), Aggron (RU), Haxorus (OU), Slaking (NU), and Arcanine (UU) and I rarely lose. I have yet no play a match that I haven't had a blast using this team as well. I also like playing with no duplicate items, I hate when I see a team with nothing but lefties on every fucking mon.

They can't think for themselves. They just pick something that worked before and go from there. "Oh, this team isn't working?" Throw it away and find a new one, instead of trying to fix.
These teams are the same ones the better players took weeks testing, then laddered, peaked high, and when the majority of the ladder knew how to counter, those good players posted it (sets included) on smogon. I remember when Metagross had a very low usage (around 3,7%, near the UU cutoff of 3,41%). Some known player posted his team which peaked #1 and #2 on two alts. BAM. Next month, usage of Metagross jumped to 9,3%

Not many, granted. AS is far from a wasted moveslot for a specially orientated Lucario, and Sacred Sword on Virizion or Cobalion are pretty solid options too. Aerial Ace on a Technician Scyther needs no questioning.

Admittedly those are pretty niche examples, but if you're so stumped about it then just use a phazer for christ's sake, it's not that hard to figure out.

Well, assuming you DT off the bat and I do the same with HC, you're only going to be getting evasion boosts while I'll be essentially nullifying them plus getting an attack boost with each turn. We can either go until we're both maxed out or you can stop and throw out an MM at which point you're susceptible to a boosted EQ.

Well scizor instantly comes to mind. Bullet punch OHKOs gengar, assuming its banded. Then you're locked into bullet punch though, and you could easily be set up on by a heatran or rotom wash/oven. And that is assuming gengar has no sash.
