If Japan made Pokemon #666 hint at something evil, it would have to be REALLY obscure. Outside of Japan, it would be censored. Pokemon #666 would have to be just a normal Pokemon or an obscure referee to something evil.

The starters go from, at the earliest, 650-659. You really think the 7th pokemon in the new pokedex is going to be awesome? Liepard was cool, but Kricketune, Beautifly, Spinarak, and Pidgey aren't very great.

Going by math,
Genesect is the current last Pokémon, #649
The 9 starters and their evolutions brings us to #658
The two rodents gives us #660
From here, the pattern is more difficult.
Asumming it goes in the Pokédex order of most gens, we will either have a 2 or 3 stage bird, bringing us to #662 or #663
Then two 2 stage or 3 stage bugs, bringing us to #666, #668, #665, or #669.
So #666 should be the regional bird, rodents, or bugs.
