>>11889471-From what I have noticed from the movie short (Of which Sylveon features heavily), The X/Y trailer and other aspects of the franchise is that there seems to be a theme of 'enchanted forests'. Xerneas is seen stepping out of an enchanted forest, and it's type is also not obvious to most fans. The entire Eevee short takes place in an enchanted forest - the type one would find fairies in.
-Much like Unova was based loosely around New York and an adaption of various parts of North America, it is likely that X/Y will be based loosely upon an adaption of France and parts of Europe. As previously stated, fairies are found mainly in European folklore. This also fits in with the Xerneas/Yveltal norse mythology theme we've been seeing so far.
-As it is, Normal type is used as a placeholder, with half its members resembling standard animals and creatures, while others are much more unusual. Many of the Pokemon currently in the unusual half of normal type are shrouded in mystery from their Pokedex entries and franchise Canon, yet are only depicted as being standard normal type in the game. These Pokemon also exist in the 'fairy' egg group (Yousei in Japanese) and would likely be retconned as fairy type.
-An eeveelution (Eeveelutions are obvious demonstrations of types) would be a great way to introduce a new type using a familiar evolution family.
-Gen V was supposed to be a 'Reboot' of Gen I, meaning Gen VI would be Gen II, the last time new types were introduced.
