Instead of Solar Power it gets Serene Grace and Dragon Breath from the dream world. Stealth rock still fucks it up but the idea of Charizard being a paraflincher seems pretty cool. It's still outclassed by Togekiss in nearly every way though.

Escavalier, Druddigon, Rhyperior, Aggron, Gigalith, Snorlax, Sunflora and many others - Trick Room now gets an item that increases its length, like Heat Rock for Sun.

trick room is too powerful for a regular ability to induce it and a mere 5 moves isn't long enough

I dunno, usually when I try to make flareon useful, I make up an ability
speaking of which, wouldn't it be cool if there was an ability that made all your attacks physical and one that made them special?

Flareon is still outclassed by Arcanine, thanks to that pathetic HP stat, less speed and no coverage moves, while Arcanine has Close Combat, Extremespeed, Wild Charge...

Let's get over it, Flareon has excellent attack but poor stats overall, and a shit movepool. Even gen VI won't be able to change that, except for something like physical elemental beams so we can have base 95-100 power physical-flamethrower, etc...

We can make this guy better by giving it more HP.

But it's still a lousy tank because of it's typing maybe some ability that allows only one typing to be used when dealing with resistances when being attacked.

But does anyone here think this thing is redeemable?

Make Rock types absorb Stealth Rock (this will give a reason to use them over the overpowered steel types)

Another way would be to modify the type chart (Make steel weak to poison, and since rock resists poison, that would be another advantage over steels). It probably won't happen, though it would fix a whole slew of issues.

I get what you're saying but that would benefit rock types in general. I'm looking for ways to make macargo specifically better.

It's a shame really I like his design but I would never train because it so horrible it's not even funny anymore.

Well, since Rock type is so horrible defensively, nothing can be done outside of giving him an overpowered ability (Maybe making Magma Armor remove opponent's items if hit?). That's probably not even enough.

I remember seeing a modification of this ability in genNEXT, Zarel's own tier (creator of Pokémon Showdown!) that's mean to change the tiers as if it was a new gen, which means no BST changes, no removal from moves in movepool, etc.

Magma Armor lets you absorb a water-type move one type without getting damage, after which you get +1SpD and the pokémon's ability becomes shell armor. Could be interesting.

I always thought that rock pokemon are supposed to be very hardy, considering that rocks are hard IRL.

Perhaps give it an ability that prevents 4x damage (reduced to 2x) and give it a high special defense and high hp to go with it's high defense.

That would do nothing for Magcargo since he's so slow.

Example: Switch in on Vaporeon's Surf, get +1 SDef, get slammed by Surf next turn anyway.

Well, he could at least set up a Shell Smash on Water-types, but even after SS, he would still be weak and slow and outclassed by Cloyster. So, a real improvement for Magcargo will come from increasing his defensive capabilities, which can only come from modifying the Rock type in some way (Improving his stats would change nothing - we already have a lot of VERY defensive Rock types that suck - see Regirock, Bastiodon (who isn't even helped by his steel type). Almost all Rocks have a gigantic Defense stat, but because of their weaknesses, still fail to take advantage of it.
