Westerners would be assumed to not get the reference, though, especially since the lawyers are forever blocking any attempt at an Earthbound rerelease and the game with Giegue/Giygas in its corporeal form was never released in the West anyway. So the name would probably be changed in the non-Japanese versions to something the Western mainstream would get.
