Okay guys bare with me.
I'm attempting to EV train.
I'm playing Soul Silver and serebii says to get attack evs I have to battle 252 goldeens/seakings but obviously that's not going to happen so here's where my problem is: I'm an idiot who can't do math.
I have a newborn female trampinch lv 1
Adamant nature with PKRS.
If I feed it 10 proteins and have it hold an exp share how many goldeens/seakings do I have to battle?
I know goldeen/seaking gives off +1 EV so how do I calculate this?

Each Vitamin (Protein in your case) gives 10 EVs in their respective stat. It won't go passed 100, so you can only feed it 10.

This means you'll have to fight 152 Goldeen. But since you have Pokerus, you only need 76. This isn't including Macho Brace or Seaking encounters.

Alright so here's what I'm going to do. I'll take my Roserade and have trampinch hold an exp share. Battling one goldeen will probably boost me up like 5-10 levels or whatever. I still only gain 2 attack IVs right?

A better option would be for it to hold the Macho Brace, then send it out to battle. First turn, switch it out for your Roserade. Macho Brace doubles your gain, so Goldeen will give 4 Attack EVs while Seaking gives 8.

Alright so I'm gonna do the power brace thing.
So 2 attack evs from every time I gain exp from goldeen. Plus the power brace which makes it 4 evs.

4 evs per battle with goldeen 252/4 = 63 so I'll have to battle 63 goldeens?

Yes. 38 Goldeen if you use 10 Proteins at the start.

Seakings will count as 2 Goldeens.

goldeen gives 1 attack ev, bracer gives 4, for a total of 5, pokerus doubles that for a grand total of 10. 152/10 = 15.2 goldeens.

When I gain like 10 levels from battling the first goldeen that's still only 4 Attack evs correct?

OP, to make things easier for you, try to make sure your Roserade can kill Goldeens in one hit. That way you can take note of how many EVs your Trapinch already has by the PP your Roserade has left.

OP I hope you didn't ignore my post here, because if you battle 63 goldeens, you'll be doing a lot more work than needed. If you have pokerus and a power bracer, a goldeen that gives you one attack EV will give you 10 in total. Seaking will give you 12 in total. Add in the vitamins, and you'll probably only have to do a little over one dozen encounters to fill up attack

Oh sorry I didn't ignore it, but if there a calculator where I can factor all of this in or something?
I tried to EV a lapras and checked my evs with showdown but i only had like 136 or something when i followed someones directions

You just have to add and multiply.

The base EV yield (1 for goldeen) + EVs from power items (power bracer adds 4 EVs no matter what). for a total of 5

Then multiply pokerus, which doubles it.

If you just want a simple formula, pokemon that normally give out 1 EV will yield 10 (assuming power item and pokerus), pokemon that give out 2 EVs will give 12, pokemon that give 3 EVs will yield 14.

Well, like I said, goldeen will give out 10, seaking 12, so since goldeen is more common you might want to use goldeen's EV yield.

And if you are in fact using 10 vitamins, then it would be 152/10 instead of 252/10

Well, the thing is, the absolute max EVs you can get in a stat is 255. Which means 3 EVs go to waste. If you battled 16 goldeens you would max out at 255. Some people like to make absolute sure they stop at 252, so they can save 6 EVs to put into another stat, but if you don't feel like being incredibly anal about tallying, you just miss out on one stat point
