Unless the Pokemon needs to be strictly legal requiring RNG (usually official tournaments), Pokegen is definitely the easier choice.

Pokegen you're just hacking the game to get what you want. You're physically altering the game's code in order to give yourself an edge, using a device that Pokemon players don't have universal access to. If you seriously think the two are comparable, you really need to get your head out of your ass.

The only exception I can think of is Speed, since being the first to act really CAN make or break a match. But yeah, if you can't win even with average IVs, odds are it's the team that's the problem.

Even if there are strategies online, there isn't just one set copy paste team that every hacker follows. You still have to choose a strategy and spread for every Pokemon on the team. It doesn't necessarily have to be unique. But I'm still choosing my strategy.

Do you know what I bred recently? A Jolteon with the IVs 28, 14, 28, 31, 31, 31 using a breeding strategy that took maybe 3-4 hours. I happened to be off on Sunday and watching TV, and you don't really need to focus for breeding. When I got that one, I felt accomplished. The best part is that it has Hidden Power Ice as a fluke, so I'm able to make a coverage Jolteon. That's what's fun. Getting your way even through insurmountable odds. Not the easy way for an easy win.

This is objectively wrong. Making a good team takes a ton of effort. THAT'S where I find my fun, not spending hours rolling dice until I get what I want. I don't feel accomplished, I feel like I wasted my time. Don't assume everyone is going to get fun and accomplishment out of breeding for hours just because you do.

Hardcore trainers won't even breed their Pokemon in the first place - at least not before putting their team through their paces on Showdown! first. Plus I've met a few VGC-level trainers who do just fine breeding the normal way, or at least by manipulating the RNG - it's all about knowing your stuff and being as efficient as you can.

Basically not every competitive player is fine with using Pokegen. There's a limit to how easy you can make something before the novelty wears off, and some people really do do it the hard way to get that sense of accomplishment.

No, because that's not where I want accomplishment. I want accomplishment from building a customized team and battling with it. Constantly hatching eggs doesn't make me feel accomplished. It's just boring. And even then it's not even a real sense of accomplishment because getting that result had NOTHING to do with my skill. It's just rolling dice. Someone else could get a result in one dice roll, while I could take me 2000 dice rolls to get that same result.

That's where you're horribly wrong and proven to me that you've never even considered breeding. You can manipulate breeding in the game to give you the stats you want through planning and proper item usage. I even get the nature I want. But if want a fake sense of accomplishment with your cookie cutter team that you'll never post, then go ahead. I won't stop you. We have differing opinions on what fun is. That's all. You can stomp people online with perfect stat Pokemon with absolutely no effort. I don't really care. I just want you to know that you got the cheap win.

And the process isn't as simple as slap an item on your Pokemon and run around. You chain breed several times until you get the final result you want. You keep track of which Pokemon has what IVs to create a Pokemon that you like. That's effort.

I'd gladly breed if GF made decent mechanics for IV control, but the current ones are just ridiculous, because at most you will only control 3 IVS and then you'll have to pray that the stars align o that the other 3 can be borderline. And then there's Hidden Power and Natures in the mix that make the process even bigger and more tedious

I don't see the fun in a such a "roll the dice" game. Thus I Pokégened a few pokémon nd now I I have fun battling and trying to reach a streak of 100 in te Subway

I am a gambler. I sometimes go to casinos to see if I can beat the odds because there is a slight rush when you do. What you call tedious is what I call fighting the odds. When I come out on top, I feel a rush. You don't understand that rush. You only want instant gratification. You simply want the easy win. You pick a team, generate it, and then play. It takes no effort. It takes no luck. You don't get that rush.
