Now, they could make it so that said pokemon was only available outside of the non-capture battle as an event mon.
Or, they could super-troll thusly:
1) you fight the pokemon in its "ultrakickass forme" or whatever. You cannot capture it, you can only defeat it
2) after defeating it, it flees, weakened. You can fight it in the postgame in this weaker forme and capture it, thus completing the dex
3) the game code contains no way to switch the pokemon's formes, making it perpetually stuck in gimped, notultrakickass mode.
4) next generation, the pokemon's forme can be changed.
Now THAT would be traollan.
