Hmm. I think one of the issues with the older Aguanaut was that people couldn't see it as happy/only see it as angry pokemon. I'm going to try and fix that? Also, I'm going to try adding some sort of bone armor (I would call it salt but all salt we do looks like ice).

And yesterday I saw two of their pages on the front page and another on page 3, the mods and others on this board will eventually get upset with that. Plus it will cause a lot of discussion to be lost between threads. Besides the amount of trolls in our threads just love theirs because their trolling actually does something and has the potential to shut their project down.

>>11977834 >>11977770 I just found them from the last thread. Save me having to rewrite them. Copied below:
Bedford. The most physically strong and hands on of the three. He's a field researcher who likes to get down and dirty in his studies. Linked to the Iron Age Golem because he's a huge fan of excavation and archaeology.
Devon. The brains of the trio. She's a bookworm of course but not in a quiet or meek way. She thirsts for information that she can study extensively and is constantly looking for new opinions and topics to read up on. Strongly linked to the Industrial Age Golem because of the many books written about the era and the prominence of newspapers and the like during it's heights.
Cumbria: The charismatic one of the trio. He gets information by going directly to the sources and interviewing people first-hand. He's got a slightly inflated ego but only because he knows how much of a charmer he is. Linked with the Modern Age Golem because of his reliance on living sources and his desire to connect to people.
Also, they're named after English counties because theme naming is a thing for some of the teams. The basic idea was that they were all students of Northington who grew to worship him and join him partly out of reverence, partly out of greed for treasure and partly out of excitement for discovery.
Evil Team Guy !!ufMDSzFN+gz

>>11977858 No. They're similar, though. Mine are a bit more villain/less neutral (pic).

Evil Team Guy !!ufMDSzFN+gz
>>11977953 In order to make a compromise, would you be willing to draw them less eccentrically and just have them take that anon's names and personalities? Or would you like to do it some other way? It's totally up to you.

>>11977949 Should I make an infograph with the rest of the characters, then? I have some other ideas but haven't presented them yet.
Evil Team Guy !!ufMDSzFN+gz

>>11977993 So just draw anon's people is what you're saying? I want to, it'll depend on how time works out tonight. Also I need a description of the physical.
I don't think I'll change the infograph, though, I want to allow people to have a taste of more exaggerated characters along with more moderate characters.

I had a brainfart when coloring him and forgot to replace it. I have one more trainer class to post and then I'll finish Cumbria and afterwards get to work on Surfer #2 and the Ninja Boy/Ninja Girl class. Also to the guy who requested the tango dancers and the Dia De Lost Muertos trainer class Im sorry theyre taking so long, I put them on the list of trainers im doing and I assure you they will get done.
Anonymous
>>11978049 Physical is fairly open to your interpretation. They fill the rough Brawn/Brains/Beauty dynamic but other than that, have some fun. If you're looking for direct sources, I'd try and make them look quite English. Bedford could be a sort of chunky tweed wearing type with muttonchops. Devon should have glasses but also be a bit wild. Cumbria as a sort of gentleman type. A sort of Dorian Gray character.
But yeah. feel free to mess with their appearances or meld them with the designs you've come up with. I only came up with them because I didn't think your ideas fit with my interpretation of their backstory (students of Northington's that started to revere him). Depending on what people prefer, yours might be fine as they are anyway.

>>11978123 Hmm, an idea for the side-plots for the trio and how it would tie into Northington's larger goals.
Cumbria is the first admin you clash with. He's trying to gain control of the East Urobosian Railway so that the Evil Team has more access to the region and can transfer supplies to the desert (where they initially believe the golden idol is located). His plan is disrupted so he sabotages the trainline in some way. This motivates the player's mid-game as they travel to the various stations and aid in the repairs in some way (Cumbria uses his Golem to mess with the electronics perhaps? The player must fight him (or a powerful minion) at each station to get the train up and running again).
The desert itself is the location where the player meets Bedford. He's in the middle of excavating a tomb that Northington believes hides the Golden Idol. Their excavation is messing with the stability of the cliffs on which Cliff Town is built and potentially could cause it to collapse into the sea. The player stops the excavation and pursues Bedford into the partially uncovered tomb. Bedford discovers that the Golden Idol isn't in this tomb but has been moved by some sort of ancient explorer. At a loss, he flees.
The third major encounter is in the jungle. If we can, give the Temple City a vast library full of ancient texts gathered from the nearby temple. Devon is there to research the explorer who moved the Golden Idol. The player is initially unaware that she is a threat and maybe even helps her with her research in some way. Once Devon finds what she needs though, she decides to steal many of the ancient texts, such is her obsession with history. That turns the library into a large arena where her minions are trying to move the books out and she is using the Industrial Golem to do so, causing damage to the surrounding environment. The player stops her thievery but she has the important information and heads to Upwards Cave to reconvene with Northington and the team.

From there it links back to the idea of blowing a massive hole in the mountain and uncovering the Golden Idols true location.
Also, to clear up a few differences from Sketcher's. I have the admins already with the Golems in their possession. Not sure where they got them but potentially they picked them up on their early exploration of Urobos. With their final defeats and the death of North, they decide to release the golems (allowing the player to catch them) and are probably found in the same three places you met them, attempting to redeem their actions. Cumbria working with the trains. Devon helping restore the library. Bedford working in the cliff town. Rebattleable as well perhaps.
Northington should show up occasionally as well but in a sort of comic-antagonist role with Mangrove and Sequoia. His position as the main villain should be concealed from the player.
Not sure how to fit Doucherado in but perhaps after the player sabotages Cumbria, Northington gets in contact with him in order to slow you down and that's when they start working together.
Again, just ideas and hopefully fairly open in terms of how the player moves through the region. These ideas should be separate from the characters themselves (ideally) since they could have very different roles.

The difference is I think that mine find the Fire Golem and then try to replicate it twice, instead of finding them in the region. The Fortunei idea is cool as hell, but I thought I'd throw out my old idea for the 'hero' who mysteriously disappeared. Gen II would take place in a region based on a European city such as London or Berlin, with a futuristic-yet-retro western theme. It would center around a time crisis, with the fabric of reality falling apart. The evil team would be a regime of liberal hippy doomsday cult members who want to stop all scientific effort to fix the time and "just let nature be, man..." saying things such as "humanity's had its run, man... it's time to let go..." However, it's revealed that at the end of the main story, the time stream was somehow altered, causing the Poke-Aztec empire in Urobos to be destroyed by the angry Quetz, as said in Gen I. The Gen II hero would take a time machine to 1000 years in the past, and go to Urobos to stop Quetz (in its space form) from growing in power and destroying all of humanity in an angry rampage, and thereby altering the future. The catch would be that in Gen I, the decedents of the Poke-Aztec empire depict the hero as a young man/woman in very strange clothes who arrived on a device that seemed not of this Earth. Gen I implies that it was an extraterrestrial, but it turns out to actually be the Gen II protagonist.

>>11980021 Ignore that other guy. Antibiotics aren't relevant at all. The process you describe is that of vaccinations. You've probably had some but just in case, it's where you get purposefully infected with a very weak virus so that the body learns what antibodies to make in order to counter that virus. If you get infected by the real thing, the body is able to deal with it much more quickly because it already knows what antibody to produce.
I'm not an expert but I don't think this would work for poisons (as understood by medicine). That said, we're dealing with Poison as in the Pokemon Type and that clearly extends to toxins and venoms as well. Venoms are probably the best bet to make the same point. Have him say something like:
'Did you know poison can be a force for good? <Signature Pokemon> produces a very special venom that allows us to manufacture different anti-venoms from it. In fact, I used its venom to make the Antidote, an all purpose poison healing item," or something similar.
I'm not sure how biologically accurate it is to say that one venom could be used to make many different anti-venoms but this is a Pokemon so it's justifiable.

>>11980548 Alright, it's not totally clear but basically in order for a three by three shape to overlap in the pattern I show in the diagram, in some spaces four squares must overlap (I think just the ones I indicate). This is impossible using RPGMXP (which only has three layers, one of which needs to be a ground tile). If you could include some specialised tiles on this tileset then we would be able to make much better use of these trees. You could also include a verticle tesselation tile (b over e for example). This can be done with layers but a dedicated tile makes it much easier.
If, however, you are planning on doing some brand new trees for us then great. Depending on the size you go for we may not have this problem. 2x3 trees, for example, don't have this issue (although in that case it would be good to include tiles for the vertical overlap. The horizontal isn't needed).

I've been wondering how the surveys worked. I used to wonder if someone would make a survey to require the models to be 3D, and if it passed would the project just die. There seems to be a lot more to it, though. I've always wanted to see a written list of the surveyors rules, but it seems like an art with guidelines now.

>>11982070 i've run surveys a number of times and here are the rules i know of
>all submitted redesigns should be included without discrimination. >if a redesign is rejected it cannot be re-surveyed. (double jeopardy) >previous designs cannot be re-surveyed. (double jeopardy) >color changes do not count as redesigns. >if an artist tells you not to survey their design you don't include it. it belongs to them and if they don't want it in the project you respect that. >surveys should be made in a way which ensures accurate representation. I.E. very similar designs should be grouped together to avoid vote splitting & survey questions should be worded so that they don't influence voters. >vote screening is not allowed. >all surveys should stay open for at least 24 hours and should be posted at least once per thread. it is the surveyors responsibility to make sure this happens. >all surveys must be checked for tor abuse and similar methods of tampering. >raw data and calculated data should be posted publicly after the survey is over. >allowing comments is encouraged whenever possible. personally i think that the guinea pig prevo question on this current survey might be a problem because two of the designs are very very similar. all of the old designs being surveyed are ineligible due to double jeopardy as well.
other than these rules the tricky part is judging which redesigns are valid. sometimes people will change the smallest detail on a design they love and submit it. these aren't acceptable but it does require discretion in choosing how to apply this rule.

>>11985769 How many ideas for his general character design were proposed?
At this stage he's pretty much an Ice-type Wattson, especially with the jolly laugh. What GF did right was make each Gym Leader very distinct, I think their example should be followed in that regard.

OP here. I'd like to put on record that I'd like these designs kept from the next survey in hopes of staying truer to the current designs that people really like. Diplomacy!

I'm also the guy that toned down the bug waifu. I guess I should wait for the survey results, but are there any other designs on the cusp that just need to be dedigified/simplified or other minor changes that would make everyone like them more? If so I'll do them when I get back.

>>11985703 Hmm, I'm not sure what the best colour is. Maybe b for the beaches and a for the desert. Would it be possible to do a sandcastle tile as well? Since beach town is a touristy place. Maybe do a completed one and a smashed one and we can have the player interact with it. Could have a hidden item in it.

>>11985887 No, because you made the design look worse. It's the exact same thing, just with all of the detail taken away. It doesn't even look fluffy anymore.

It should be a large lobby (like the first gym in black2/white2) with the kids daycare and some ice sculptures and the like which has a back-room with nested ice puzzles (i.e. there are three of them but all in the same room.
Ice sculptures having nothing to do with Foster and shouldn't be included just because lol ice.

please color your line art, and put it in the next survey (along with the statues)
