New pokemon is fine, new forms are not. Forms are the only thing I hate about pokemon.
Castform in it's entirety is a worthless gimmick, much like every other pokemon with forms. ONLY exception is Rotom/Giratina, because it actually makes logical sense for a ghost to possess certain items or a being changing appearance by leaving it's original reality.

Makes no sense. Mewtwo is a clone created by scientists. I highly doubt they would have added a form for it to awaken into. And if that's an explanation for that then it shows just how lazy GF is and with that design, that wouldn't be a surprise. I seriously hope this isn't a bad omen for the rest of the gen.

On topic: I'm disappointed that it's not a new Pokemon, but I still like its design (other than the toes). And it makes sense that Mewtwo, a genetic experiement, would be unstable enough to be able to change its makeup into a new form.

I like Mewtwo and I like this new form, but it being a form is really irritating to me. Like you said some form changes make sense but ones like this don't really. Maybe it will have some neat way it changes form though, like involving Mew or something? Oh well only time will tell.

I like Mewtwo and all but I was kinda hoping this was a Mew form.
Mew is like the most vanilla legendary ever now. He was originally introduced as being rare and mysterious. But then there are now much more mysterious pokemon, like gods and shit. And the later generation's equivalents are time travelers and wish granters and shit. Mewtwo is just a psychic.
And while Mewtwo has this whole Cinnibar island story, and now THREE movies to his name, Mew barely gets any time to shine.
I was hoping this was finally Mew's chance to do something interesting.

There's not much to like about it.
It has no gimmick.
It's mysterious nature was supposed to make you think it was some ancient ancestral Pokemon. But after the first gen there's like a shitton of Pokemon who are way older and more mysterious.
Literally the most interesting thing about Mew is Mewtwo.

i like the design as a standalone pokemon, but the thing that irks me is that if this is a new form of Mewtwo thats supposedly awakened, why isnt more fearsome? honestly this looks like it should be some sort of bridge between Mew and Mewtwo. not by evolution per se, but maybe fusion. kinda like (DBZ reference coming through) how kid buu came into being. I like it, ill probably switch between forms for fun, but the actual premise and appearance just doesnt seem right.

Mewtwo's new form's stats will be the following:

Much faster and almost as powerful. Intelligent players will pick this form over the old one thanks to the awesome Speed and still great Special Attack (who uses Physical Mewtwo anyway?). Genwunners will say the original is better because it has higher Special Attack (154) and endless debates will appear.

This is really starting to come together. Genesect got Extremespeed, which hits Mewtwo neutrally rather than giving him some sort of huge advantage. Mewtwo gets electro-ball which plays off how extremespeed doesn't affect Genesect's base speed, is going to be powered up by more speed on Mewtwo's end, and doesn't directly give Mewtwo any advantage over Genesect either so it'll be an "even" fight.

It's not like this would be some sort of defense boosting form.

It's most reminiscent of Deoxys-S and going against Extremespeed Genesect. Speed form makes the most sense, since the base form is already 154 base special attack form.
