Stats aren't everything. Sableye's use comes out of prankster and a great movepool. Recover +Night shade/foul play+will-o-wisp/toxic+taunt means that he doesn't need good stats.

When you're a defensive pokemon stats are far more important than if you're an offensive pokemon. Sableye is often forced into positions where it has to choose between recovering and taunting and is easily one hit KO'd.

He's a staple on a UU stall team of mine and can easily take down two or three Pokemon himself when played to his strengths.

I laddered up to 1850 with Sableye in UU, felt he was pretty underwhelming. He can burn one or two opponents then dies instantly to any special attacker

It can wall any physically offensive pokemon easily with Will-o-wisp, taunt any set-up sweepers or hazard setters, and cripple the opponents team with burn as they struggle to find the best way to kill it. Oh and he also spin blocks wrecks Espeon and Xatu with Foul Play and has priority Recover.

Sableye can switch into a lot if you can predict for shit. And Blissey's wish gets it back to full if it isn't already. It's a great spinblocker and doesn't give a shit about normal, fighting, or psychic. I also lead with it, U-turn into it, and use it to revenge...stall. Yes, If there's a Rotom-W in the rain and my Heatran is out, I'm obviously not going to send out Sableye
