I've decided that I want to try out some Pokemon RomHacks, and I started with Brown because it's one of the more complete retakes of the Gen1 games. Has anyone else played it?

I'm past the second Gym and I have a handful of Pokemon that haven't learned a single move on their own, like Cubone and Magmar. Is the designer's intent that you use TMs as your main source of new moves? I seem to be getting them hand over fist and the second town sells them for cheap.
