You know, they could have justified this

Like if they said the pokedex had updated information on the pokemon

or if ash showed the pokedex to his friends when it was a pokemon he's already seen before

why they never bothered to change out heroes everyseason ala digimon/Yugioh/etc I'll never know

but I really doubt they can fuck up a character that fast
I think ash sucks because he's been here too long and any mistakes he makes lack the charm they may have had in earlier seasons
also, any anime that runs this long with the same characters, that never really develop, will get stale
could you watch the same person do the same shit and make the same mistakes for 15 years and not get bored out of your fucking mind?

ash isn't a retard anymore, and has a broken as fuck fully evolved team
ash still loses

by that point, anime finally ends (which it won't because gf needs dosh)
or focus shifts to completely new character which will make the good of our fanbase happy and the bad of our fanbase rage
