>>12001804What I don't understand is the lack of a good rental system for those games. You pretty much cannot play Battle Revolution without owning a DS and a copy of DPP, which is silly.
Here's my pitch: make a multi-ladder online system, allow fans to establish their own ladders with rules and bans, and introduce a team-building rental system like Pokemon Showdown for ladders which allow rentals rather than game pokemon.
Essentially, mix pokemon showdown with Battle Revolution.
Charge a small monthly fee to play online.
Look, you just sold a copy to 80% of the PS/PO userbases, monetized their continuous play, and probably crippled the usage of those systems so much that the remaining 20% of users would be forced to switch due to the network effects of decimating the userbase. Coupled with the lack of sprites and access to the code-level math of the game for Gen VI, which would make developing a free alternative to this stadium game extremely difficult, you'd more or less make paying customers of every metagame pokemon player.
But that's only a concern if you aren't GameFreak, who probably wipe their ass with $10k cashier's checks because they have more money than Jesus.
