Fewer pokemon doesn't actually make the game a lot harder. If you want increased difficulty play one of the romhacks made for that purpose or do no pokemon center run.

I'm a fan of using that wyncorporation Pokemon roller to get a team and then using that team in a playthrough (obviously hacked into the game on an emulator). What game I play depends on what team I get.

sadly ive no emulator. i cant seem to ween myself off the 3ds. if it aint handheld it aint pocket monsters ya dig?

OP doesn't mention deaths or having to catch the first Pokemon you see, so no. It's just the 1 Poke per badge rule, meaning you can get 9 (counting Starter).

You cannot catch any wild pokemon, can only get them by gift, buying, breeding, hatching etc
