No, uber huedragons were not glorious. I miss the days when the legends didn't:

>Have to fight each other
>Have retardedly powerful backstories
>Have to be dragon type
>Be the main focus of the plot

Gen II did legendaries right. Gen III was an interesting change, but Gen IV took it too far and then Gen V did the same thing again.

Hopefully Regal McDer and Edgewing will have similar roles as Lugia and Ho-oh. Especially Der. A powerful benevolent forest guardian with a mythos that doesn't have anything to do with the main plot.

Gen 5 legendaries are the first mascots since Gen 2 that are not some some super OP PokéGod.

They are actually closer to Gen 2 legendaries, the only difference being that they have a role in the story instead of being a sidequest

There used to be one single legendary Dragon at the service of the royal family, but then the brothers thrown a temper tantrum and the dragon split for each brother.

They are nowhere near the powers of Groudon/Kyogre/Raquaza, let alone Palkia/Dialga/Giratina

Zekrom and Reshiram are simply powerful and rare pokémon, akin to Ho-Oh and Lugia.
