U-Turn / Quick attack.

Brick break is pretty much non-negotiable. You'll be walled far too hard by all steels/rocks without it and even with it you won't 1HKO many that aren't 4x weak to it.

What are you giving up? Stab? Coverage on pokemon who generally 1HKO you? U turn?

Scyther has 4 moveslot syndrome very badly.

But that's not really his best option, as you'll have to try really hard to keep SR away if you plan on switching him in and out a lot. You also just won't be hitting very hard without boosting first, especially stuff that's not 4X weak to any of its moves.

Just concentrate on denting whatever Scyther can't OHKO and then try for a sweep.

But you're not giving up any coverage or a STAB with Swords Dance, you're just giving up neutral priority. Not hitting hard enough is likely going to be more of a problem than not being fast enough.

This. Especially because Scyther is - get this - FASTER THAN SCIZOR. He traded his speed for attack and defense, and Scizor isn't overly worried about rocks or entry hazards in general - He can't be toxic'd and SR is neutral coverage. Roost essentially negates their effects. Scyther doesn't get this benefit. It lacks the defensive typing enabling it to waste a turn roosting, just to recover SR damage, when it could've doubled its attack and then swept away
