the gen 1 stats are the same. It's annoying, because its got a cool design, but its stats are an indication that it was meant to be the first gym leader's pokemon in the first game.

well onix does have a niche in the genV meta... it gets sturdy, decent speed, eviolite stone, and can spam sleeptalk... rest... roar... dragontail.

if you're using it for a playthrough... what i do is use screech/rockslide to try flinching them out

You had Pokemon with bigass Attack but with a special attack typing so it couldn't have an effective STAB
Good example would be Kingler with 130 attack but he is water so...meh

I hate fact how many Pokemon are clearly designed for other stats.
My favorite example is Salamance and Flygon.
Salamance looks like defence/sp attack pokemon. It's highest stats are Attack and speed. You know Salamace should be the Pokemon tank- It stands there looking pretty and anihilate other pokemon with special attacks like fire blast and dragon pulse.

Flygon have high attack AND SPEED LIKE FAT SALAMANCE when it looks like it should be fast special attacker.

The Druddigon looks like defensive type too but it defences are shit.

It needs a nice physical ice type move. Like Frostbite - Pokemon grabs the opponent and tries to freeze it. 10 pp 80 power 20% to freeze.

It's basically the fastest Spore user together with Breloom, only it also has the best stat boosting move other than Shell Smash. As long as you keep it away from physical hits it's pretty okay.

Not saying that it's supposed to be uber or anything, but sleep powder/quiver dance is a solid combo. It's not a shit as, say, Beedrill to the point that it's actually somewhat usable.

Although I will admit I once swept a team with Swords Dance Beedrill in random battles (because opponent only had slow pokemon and no super effective moves).

That is the kicker. Crabhammer does NOT work with Sheer Force and Kingler does NOT learn Waterfall.

I'm not even fucking kidding, Rock Slide is the only move which gets the boost.

Funny thing is if Kingler got at least a STAB and one or two moves which worked with Sheer Force it'd actually be a excellent sweeper.

130 attack, 115 def, 75 speed with Agility would actually make it a faster and much stronger version of Agility Metagross.

I guess Water is a better attacking type than Psychic or Steel, but at least Metagross can take a hit better than Kingler, whereas Kingler is OHKOd by almost any special attack.

Beedrill with even mildly boosted stats would be pretty good with an Expert Belt or something.

Drill Run
Poison Jab/Cross Poison
X-Scissor
Swords Dance
Agility
Toxic Spikes
etc etc etc

What I'd REALLY like to see is boosting Twineedle so it behaves the same as Bonemerang.

50 BP, 90 Acc. Hits twice. Tell me this wouldn't be great on whatever Pokemon learn it. Pretty sure this and Swarm would hit hard regardless. If it still poisoned Steel types, that'd be hilarious.

Kingler if it could get Waterfall would actually hit about 5% harder than Metagross with Meteor Mash. When you consider Meteor Mash is 20 base power stronger Kingler is actually around 28% stronger than Metagross with Sheer Force if they'd just give it a useable STAB.

It hasn't been able to poison Steel/Poison types since Gen 2 which was likely a glitch.

Mind you a Twineedle buff would be great for Escavalier at least, means it wouldn't have to rely on Megamiss anymore as long it is stronger than X-Scissor.

The sad thing is Beedrill was actually slightly useable in Gen 3 half of it being the lack of priority. I actually pulled off a few Beedrill sweeps using a HP Bug/Sludge Bomb/Endure/Agility @Liechi berry set.

Same thing with Feraligatr. By Gen III it could learn Dragon Claw, Crunch and Ice Punch. All were fantastic moves save for one thing: they were all classified as Special and Feralibro's Sp. Attack was weak. Gen IV improved that by making all those moves physical.

Now on the flip side the split weakened others. I used to murder so many with Sceptile's Crunch, Dragon Claw and Leaf Blade. Now all of those are special which means poor Sceptile lost its signature move.

All those moves you mentioned are Physical, not special.

Can you imagine how many Pokemon would still get nerfed if that split hadn't happened? I realized that Leafeon would have been (slightly) nerfed and Zekrom would have been screwed the fuck over because, by pre-Gen IV standards, its typing is special: Dragon and Electric.

Had a bad battle with Pike Queen Lucy? If so, then I feel you. I got past Milotic with no problems but her Shuckle gave me damn nightmares. Sandstorm, Rest, Protect and Toxic while holding a Chesto Beryy. I finally got around to beating it, though.
