The rest of that shit doesn't work because The Wizard of Oz is relatively modern whereas JTTW is 400 years old and is absolutely salient in eastern culture. Sorry, it is. Sure people haven't READ it, but they know of it and it has a revered position. If you show someone an original depiction of Sun Wukong, they will not say "Oh, it's Monkey from the TV show!" they will know that it is Monkey from JTTW. The analogy also doesn't work because most people haven't read the Bible in the west either, and Jesus isn't said to have brown hair and a beard, doesn't mean that sculptors and painters today are "referencing" passion of the fucking Christ.
You've forgotten the point you were trying to make and are just trying to be right at this point. Just admit you'd never heard about JTTW and move on.
