>>12024043This was around the time I bought a console for the first time (discounting the N64 I got from my cousins). They had a Get Two Free Games deal when you bought a Gamecube, so I wanted to get Smash Brothers and some Beyblade game (Because I was really into that too), since I'd played it at my friend's house a lot, but it was sold out, so I got the other game he'd been playing, the Zelda Collector's Edition.
Ocarina of Time blew me away. Me and my friend were essentially racing to the end, since getting stuck meant no progression until you figured that shit out for yourself. We spent ages discussing what we thought was going to happen next, what the bosses would be like and all the secrets we found.
Then we both got Wind Waker and it was the same all over again, only better. I remember that he was stuck for ages after the second temple during the rain and didn't know where to go, so for several weeks while I was at his house, he sailed around the ocean exploring to the best of his ability. That endless rain was honestly one of the most defining moments of my childhood.
We later did the same thing with Colosseum, though it wasn't quite the same. I told him about the incense case in the forest town and he spent two hours going through the town trying everything to find it. Turned out you couldn't get it until later in the plot, but we didn't know that
