Are type matchup multipliers additive or multiplicative?

Not that it matters with the current limit of two types per pokemon, but I'm curious.

Probably multiplicative because of how resistances work.

Idea that will completely change the metagame:
What if dual-types are essentially only half of two types? Logically, this would halve weaknesses as well.

maybe instead make one the main type and one the sub type? where only the sub type is half a type? That way there's a difference between rock/ground and ground/rock etc.
