Ferrothorn is such a good poke that, with Leech Seed and protect, it can wall entire teams that don't carry Fire type or fighting type moves.
I used to run Curse before, instead of protect. It's harder to use and Protect makes removing counters easier, but after I managed to set up two curses, nothing was getting past Ferro with physical attacks. Excadrill's Earthquake did less that a 10% damage, for example, and got one shot'd with a +2 Power Whip.
