>>12046513-As it is, Normal type is used as a placeholder, with half its members resembling standard animals and creatures, while others are much more unusual. Many of the Pokemon currently in the unusual half of normal type are shrouded in mystery from their Pokedex entries and franchise Canon, yet are only depicted as being standard normal type in the game. These Pokemon also exist in the 'fairy' egg group (Yousei in Japanese) and would likely be retconned as fairy type.
-An eeveelution (Eeveelutions are obvious demonstrations of types) would be a great way to introduce a new type using a familiar evolution family.
-Gen V was supposed to be a 'Reboot' of Gen I, meaning Gen VI would be Gen II, the last time new types were introduced.
-A new gen on a new console with a new overworld would really benefit from a new type, it's an easier time to introduce it because we already have a new overworld, a new 3D battle scene and of course, new Pokemon. Though I think it's likely we will only see a small number of new 'Fairy' type Pokemon, with the rest being retcons. Which will sew the seeds for future Gens, much like Dark and Steel did.
Some of these points don't stand up well on their own, but paint a more complete picture when you stack them all up and fairy type looks very, very convincing.
