Look, there's not always some underlying reason for this shit. I think it's just as, if not more, likely that GF didn't tell us the type simply because they didn't want to, not because they're secretly hiding a new type.

And I'll say it again, the big deal about Sylveon will be how it evolves, not its type. It'll likely just be normal-type because that makes the most sense without diving into ridiculous assumptions based entirely on subjective interpretations of extremely vague preliminary information and game footage.
