Mewtwo's voice change is the most suspicious part of the whole thing. As you know, the Japanese hold the VAs in high regard and would almost never change voice actors unless it was absolutely necessary.

Just look at how they bought back so many old actors for those flashback sequences in the Charizard ep.
There's probably more to be revealed.

I saw some speculation that because Mewtwo's "voice" was always just telepathy, the change reflects how it as a person has changed since the first movie and special.

Yeah, that guy is talking out his ass. According to Bulbapedia, Mewtwo in the anime is genderless. Although in the dub for Mewtwo Returns, it is referred to as male.

yeah, the first movie in Japanese had a male voice, certainly much different than this voice. do we still know whether or not this is the original mew two or a newly created one? I doubt the latter, but still, anime makes anything possible...
