I don't think Claire's challenging at all, but you don't even know your shit.

Besides, how are you supposed to get dragon claw, anyways? Grinding Dratini for 10 hours until it evolves?
It's not like you can get the TM before beating the E4, anyways. But at that point you'd have Outrage to take care of it.

Only weak to Dragon, a type that is rare, especially in Gen 3 as most dragons take forever to get powerful, and are rare except Flygon which is weak as shit until it evolves and lolaltaria. Nearly unresisted dual stab, only resisted by Ferrothorn, Empoleon, and a couple of others. Huge bulk for an offensive Pokemon. Not to mention Juan and Drake's use evasion based strategies.

More like the fact that Clair's spam Smokescreen and Juan spams Double team

Clair's have Sniper and I think that Juan's Kingdra's have not only the Chestorest combo, but also that one of his pokemon carries Rain Dance.

His Luvdisc carries Rain Dance, IIRC, which is basically all it's good for considering it'll outspeed about 70% of Pokémon before falling to a Tackle.

The problem with Surf in the Tate/Liza battle is Sunny Day, which Xatu and Solrock love to set up. There's also the fact that it's a double battle, so Surf is weakened.

Many people also like to make the games more challenging because a vanilla run is indeed piss easy.
