dual types didn't exist until gen 2. Pokemon could just have "properties"of a second type, like psyduck having psychic properties despite being pure water. Also rock was immune to electricity.

If you did a specific button combination while catching a Pokemon, the catch rate would increase.

As for OP, I thought you could get to the damn Mew Truck if you caught all 150 pokemon.

You have to understand, though, that was back when catching all 150 was simply NOT gonna happen because fuck the safari zone and doublefuck Porygon. And it's not really something you question when talking to the old man in Viridian and then surfing on Cinnibar really DOES net you 200 Master Balls.
