>>12047944>Diamond and Pearl were kinda bleh because of some of the weird decisions they made (all of the new evolutions unavailable until after the Elite Four? Only two Fire-type lines? Gible's cave unavailable until you get Strength usable in the field?). Platinum greatly rectified that along with adding the Move Tutors and adjusting the story a bit.>HeartGold and SoulSiver were amazing remakes. Returning many of the lost Kanto features, adding some new Routes, the Gen IV evolutions of Gen I and II Pokemon (mostly) available in the main game? MUCH better than the Gen I remakes where they left everything nearly exactly as is and your Pokemon couldn't even evolve until you beat the Elite Four.>I won't say Gen IV is THE best, since I like all of the Gens, but it certainly is up there. All of this. I have a friend who just started getting back into Pokemon and he chose Pearl. He chose Turtwig and asked me what was a good Fire-type to choose and I told him there were only two: one he already passed up when he chose Turtwig and Ponyta.
He asked me if I could send a Fire-type to him and I suggested these three: Houndour, Charmander (actually he asked for this one) and Magby.
To be honest, he actually chose Chimchar before but he said that its cry annoyed him.
He wanted a Dragon and said that he really liked Gible but couldn't find it. Even when I told him where the cave was, he still couldn't find it so I bred my Garchomp and gave him an Egg. He's quite happy with the little dude that hatched.
I just started back to playing Diamond because I have some characters I'm going to send over to Black 2 and White 2 and I never realized how bland the Elite Four's rooms were and how weak the Elite Four theme was. I loved many different tracks from the D/P soundtrack but the Elite Four/Gym Leader themes weren't exciting to me whatsoever.
In spite of all these infractions I loved the story line, the Pokemon, areas like Mt. Coronet and the physical/special split.
