The same exact things can be said for all Shuckle sets, so if you're not willing to use something purely because it's not an optimal strategy then you probably shouldn't use Shuckle at all.
I could see it working in Doubles along with a Trick Room user, so the first turn you have your high defense tank a hit for you, and on the second turn with Trick Room and Power Trick up you take out whatever the physical threat is. Still is stupid, and there are better options, but it can work.
