Cilan will stay in the show, because he fits well in a "France" setting (sadly). Iris will end her journey just like Misty did. Btw i just want you to remember that changing character everytime is not a good thing for the show health, it will anger some fans and alienate people to a point that Suspension of disbelief will cease (this is why Brock went to every region except Orange Islands and Unima, and then he wents old and he needed to be changed).

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that Drayden set everything up to make her the next gym leader. (Was it even brought up since that episode?)

The fact that they're supposed to be all heading to Kanto before they get sidetracked by the filler arc makes me think that there's more chance of them hanging on for XY, because it would be kind of lame and awkward just to see Ash's home then go back to theirs.

Iris will stay behind to go to the Dragon Village and report to the elder
Cilan will go back to his cafe and do shit with them
Ash will return home then start his journey to XY
Then at least one of Ash's former companions (Brock, Misty, Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, Cilan or Iris) will intercept him, ask him where he's going and accompany him part/all of the way there.
If they accompany him all of the way there, we get to watch a whole 2 seasons of Ash+companion in XY. If they leave before XY, we get a new companion for 2 seasons.
