Parents got me pokemon blue for Christmas when i was 8 or 9 and my younger sister pokemon Red. Played through blue all the way. Sister couldn't get into pokemon Red so I picked it up and played through it. Bought ever game that's came out since then.
Anime:
My parents sold puppies at a flea market.(Trust me that used to be a good way to make money. My parents were loaded when I lived at home) Mom saw that someone was selling pokemon VHSs so she brought one home for me.(it had 3 episodes Ash's Gym battle with Erika, The one where Hypno was hypnotizing kids, and the Vulpix fashion one.) Loved it, she bought me a few more. We eventually got the channel that showed the Pokemon anime and i watched it everyday when I came home from school. When the first movie came out my older step-sister took me and my sister to see it.
Toys/Cards:
Sometimes i would go to the fleamarket with my parents and buy the figures. One day mom came home from work and told me they have "pokemon cards." now. I had no idea what she meant but she brought a pack home for me once and I thought they were neat. I don't remember every card in the pack but it was I remember it was pack of Base set with a foil Nidoking.
Pretty much everything I bought with my allowance was pokemon related when I was a kid. My dad even made a deal that he would buy me pokemon stadium 2 if made A's on these test i had coming up in 6th grade. My parents were and still are awesome. They got me Black 2/White 2 for my birthday last year since I didn't have any money due to college.
Thanks Mom and Dad for helping make my childhood a good one.
