Xerneas lives in the forest of Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life whose roots hold the sky. He is a forest spirit who brings life wherever he goes.
Yveltal is a deathbringer. All life in his shadow wilts and turns to ash. He lives on barren cliffs outside the forest of Yggdrasil. His duty is to collect the souls of the departed and remove them from this world.
Xerneas and Yveltal are rivals fighting over territory, trying to bring life/death to the realm of the other.
Team Evil wants to capture either Xerneas (to rid the forest of its guardian and allow Yveltal to bring death to Yggdrasil) or Yveltal (to command the power of death itself and wield it against their enemies). You need to capture the opposite one to stop this from happening.
